Congenital Heart Disease – Atrial Septal Defect – Surgery sponsored by Dr.Mani Children Heart Foundation – December 2006
Nine year old Nadhiya lives in a small town in South India, with no access to highly specialized heart care. So she silently struggled along with a hole in her heart that allowed blood to flood her little lungs.
Fortunately, she did not suffer much in her first few years of life. But for a year now, her breathing was becoming labored and she found herself unable to walk long distances, climb stairs or play with her friends.
Her father, the only earning member of their household, made enough to keep their family fed and clothed, but with little to save for costly treatment.
Luckily, Nadhiya found us through a recommendation from a friend. In an operation sponsored by the Dr.Mani Children Heart Foundation, her atrial septal defect was successfully repaired.
She is now back to a healthy life in her home-town – and sends her gratitude to her sponsors from half-way across the globe, kind and generous donors who gave her the precious gift of life!
