Congenital Heart Disease – Ventricular Septal Defect – Surgery sponsored by Dr.Mani Children Heart Foundation – December 2005
Ramya attends first grade in a town in South India. This cheerful, smiling 6 year old becomes a breathless, sweaty little girl when she runs and plays longer than a few minutes.
The reason: A hole in her heart, called a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), drives twice as much blood through her little lungs than normal.
Coming from a middle-class family with a monthly income of just Rs.2,200, Ramya needed financial assistance to undergo curative surgery… support that was provided by the Dr.Mani Children Heart Foundation.
She is now fully recovered from surgery and leads a healthy, happy life.
