PRESS RELEASES - THE HEART KIDS BLOGATHON

HEART SURGEON IN BLOGGING MARATHON,
TO HELP SAVE A CHILD'S LIFE

On August 6th, 2005, for the third consecutive year, Indian heart surgeon Dr.Mani Sivasubramanian will be blogging for 24 hours - without a break - in the Heart Kids Blogathon, raising funds to sponsor life-saving heart surgery for poor children.

"Heart surgery in India costs as little as $3,000 - but many families can't afford even this" said Dr.Mani.

The blog marathon will help raise awareness about the devastating problem of heart birth defects that claim thousands of young lives every year. 7 of every 1000 children are born with congenital heart defects, making it the most common birth defect.

"Few people realize more babies are born with congenital heart defects than with Spina Bifida, Down's syndrome and hearing loss," says the innovative heart surgeon who turned to Internet marketing as a fund raiser to support his critical mission. "In India, lack of awareness and/or financial resources often prevent recognition or timely treatment."

Since 2003, the Dr.Mani Children's Heart Foundation has sponsored treatment for 5 children, and is in a position to help a 15 more in the months ahead.

The Heart Kids Blogathon is a celebration of the potential of the Internet to do good and effect change. For 24 hours, it unites a diverse group of participants, sponsors, and viewers to work towards the common goal of helping save a child's life.
