July 24, 2004 --
Heart surgeon and entrepreneur Dr.Mani Sivasubramanian is participating in a 24-hour blogging marathon to raise funds and awareness for congenital heart defects through his Children's Heart Foundation.
Wake up early and stay up late on July 24th with the annual Blog Marathon, a revolutionary internet charity drive where sponsors pledge money based on how long they think the participants can last in an all-day, all-night, website updating marathon.
Dr.Mani is doing this for the second year running. Last year, in under 24 hours he raised more than $12,000 for 4 poor children in India to receive life-saving heart operations. On July 24th, he'll be blogging all night long -

The event originated as the "Blogathon" founded in 2001 by Portland, Oregon resident Cat Connor. This year, while the official Blogathon team revamps their system, the Blog Marathon tradition is being continued by Project Blog.
Entries range from the personal to the hilarious to the downright exhausted, with some people posting serialized novellas, telling a retrospective biography via photograph, or even streaming their own live radio broadcasts to garner attention.
