Ranjith Kumar - Atrial Septal Defect

Little Ranjith Kumar is 7 years old, a shy, playful youngster with a sparkling smile. Today, even though he’s recovering from major surgery, that smile is a bit wider, brighter.

Ranjith became the 16th child to have surgery for a heart birth defect – an Atrial Septal Defect – sponsored by the Dr.Mani Children Heart Foundation.

In a heart-warming gesture, his father raised the sum of Rs.10,000 and offered it as a part contribution to the cost of treatment. He insisted on doing it, as his way of showing appreciation and gratitude to the hundreds of donors who pitched in to make expensive treatment accessible to his son.

What’s so great about it? He earns a paltry Rs.1,200 per month, working as hired labor on a piece of land he cultivates for the owner!

Today, however, he’s smiling too – thanks to you.
